“It takes photographs, video clips, time lapse, operates as a webcam, and has a measurement
feature. It is so easy to use that my four-year-olds mastered it in one day! It is durable, and the price is right. I leave it out and the students are able to use it independently. I have other technological tools, such as iPads, [a] projector, [an iPod] Nano, flip cameras, and digital cameras—but my
favorite … tool is the SmartScope!” by

"I apologize..... :)
I totally doubted these microscopes when I got the email and thought "whatever! They're going to sit in the closet like the other ones because they'll be too hard to use.."
I was totally wrong....they ARE super EASY! :)" -- Library Media Specialist by

SmartSense SOLUS
Product Code: 4051
This portable datalogger is like a mini weather station. With five (5) built-in sensors and an LCD display, the SOLUS is a powerful yet easy to use datalogger designed specifically for younger students. The built-in sensors include sound, light, temperature, humidity and barometric pressure. It is ideal for monitoring and recording daily weather patterns. Using probeware in the field has never been this easy and accessible for younger students.
The SOLUS datlogger also has two (2) ports for connecting any of our over 40 external sensors (2 external temperature sensors are included with the SOLUS). Monitor and record changes with external sensors such as Temperature, pH, Heart Rate, Motion, or Photogates. Simply plug the sensor in and collect data. All of our sensors are auto-identified when plugged in and most are auto-calibrated to save you the time and frustration of calibrating sensors.
The SOLUS runs on a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that is charged either through the AC adapter or through the USB cable connected to the computer. It will run for over 30 days on a single charge in EasyLog mode (the mode for monitoring continuous data over time).
The SOLUS comes with the SmartSense Software site license for capturing data from the SOLUS. SmartSense Software is easy to use and great for displaying real-time data with students (the sound level is particularly interesting for students to see in real-time). It allows you to download data that has been collected away from the computer, analyze the data, copy the graph or chart into another application such as Word or PowerPoint or even export the data to Excel.
